History

During the Second World War the local area was used by the 398th Bombardment Group. It was also used by the 55th Fighter Group who would escort the B17 Flying Fortresses in daylight raids over Germany.

The Woodman Inn has many original photos and memorabilia throughout the pub, as well as two memorials situated outside in the gardens.
